Meet Lorraine Cavoto, N.P.

Loraine Cavoto, MSN, FNP-C earned her bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) IN 1986 in Nursing from University of Texas Health Sciences Center, San Antonio, Texas. She worked for several years in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, caring for premature and ill newborns and provided care and support to the neonates and the parents of these extremely fragile newborns. This included respiratory support, intravenous and nasogastric nutrition, developmental positioning, and instructing parents on developing bonding and instruction on how to orally feed their babies and provide developmental care. Infection control was also an important proponent of their care. In 1989 she joined the United States Air Force and served as a nurse where she provided care to those protecting our nation. She served in the Air Force for seven years and then accepted an honorable discharge when she married another Air Force officer. At this time she continued to work as a neonatal nurse as well as a primary care provider to new mothers and their newborns. In 2014 she obtained her Masters in Nursing Degree from Northern Illinois University. She strongly felt the urge to want to continue to provide care to families, including treatment of acute illnesses, providing resources for families and their children in the areas of mental health, physical well-being, health maintenance, and holistic care. She has a strong commitment to being available to her patients and their families in all areas of physical and mental health care, as well as providing referrals as needed. She believes in treating her patients as she would treat her own family members and takes a strong commitment in following up with her patients and their progress. She believes that wellness involves physical and mental health and well-being and strives to incorporate these tenets into her practice. Although she was born and raised in Texas, she has embraced Illinois as her new and permanent home. She has a spouse and five children and a large extended family in the surrounding area who she enjoys spending time with.
