Real People, Real Results

Meet a few OPTIFAST alumni who were recently recognized for their successful weight loss efforts:

Browne (Illinois)

Browne had tried to diet and exercise on his own to lose weight for a long time. He was not able to get the weight off because he had difficulty staying motivated and sticking to the healthy eating habits. He had to lose the weight to reduce health risks. After attending one of our open houses and talking to Dr. Turk, he decided to sign up for the OPTIFAST* program. Browne found the program to be efficient and very easy to follow. He lost 80 pounds on the program and is still able to maintain his weight. By losing the weight, his joint health is better, his sleep apnea is reduced by 60%, and there is an overall improvement in his energy level. The wellness educator helped him learn the healthy behaviors for long-term weight management and a healthy lifestyle. Now his attitude towards his diet is healthier and he is looking forward to keeping the weight off.

Wendi (Illinois)

Wendi tried and failed many times to lose weight. She was interested in the OPTIFAST* Program and decided to give it a try after she had a consult with Dr. Turk. In 12 weeks she lost 60 pounds. Wendi felt better than she had in a long time and the program was really easy for her to follow. “I’m looking forward to incorporating OPTIFAST* into the rest of my weight loss journey.”

Sandra Dyarman (New Haven, Indiana)

Diagnosed with lupus 15 years ago, health became a priority to Sandra after encountering a life-threatening complication of an old gallbladder surgery. “My wake-up call was hearing the surgeon tell me that my ruptured hernia was caused by my weight and that it could happen again if I didn’t do something. Thankfully my nephrologist referred me to the OPTIFAST clinic and I made the phone call that changed my life.” *

Alfred Perez (Chicago, Illinois)

As a professor and PhD candidate at the University of Chicago, Alfred usually feels confident and in control at the helm of the classroom. But during the fall of 2009, just before he was to give a lecture, he realized that his dress shirt was too small to button across his frame. Standing in front of his students, sweating with embarrassment, Alfred made the decision then and there that he had to make a significant lifestyle change and lose weight. “I embarked on a succession of fad diets for nearly 10 years; with each diet, I engaged in a ferocious yet familiar cycle of temporarily losing and regaining weight. The OPTIFAST Program not only dispelled imprudent myths that allowed me to deflect my personal responsibility, but also allowed me to tap an inner strength and confidence that I didn’t know existed in me.” *
